The violin is labelled ‘Gaspar Borchardt, fece in Cremona, in Piazza Duomo – Anno 2016.’ The body measures 355mm along the back, 170mm across the upper bouts and 207mm across the lower bouts. The back is maple in one piece, moderately flamed, with a low curl. The ribs & scroll have been selected to match the back. The top is spruce with a straight grain and an uneven growth. The violin has been antiqued with a good cover of golden brown varnish & boxwood fittings. It is in excellent condition with no damage or marks.

,,

This violin is overall very bright in sound & is ideal for tertiary level study & the advancing soloist. This instrument boasts a fast and strong response with loud projection. It has good balance across the high & low registers and a very resonant tone. The violin has ‘Evah Pirazzi Gold’ on the G, D & A strings and an ‘Oliv’ E String. These strings are overall very warm in sound & so help to balance the overall brightness of this instrument & enhance the complexity of its sound.
