This violin bow was made in the Seifert workshop located in Bubenreuth, Germany. The Seifert workshop was founded by Oskar Seifert in 1932 who learned the craft of bowmaking from Albert Renz in Erlbach. They have a wide range of bows from a more student-intermediate level to top-quality soloist bows made by their master bowmakers. The Seifert workshop produce a small amount of bows each year & they are entirely made by hand. All wood used has been naturally dried in their workshop for more than 20 years. Each bow produced is unique & of the highest standard.

This violin bow is stamped ‘W-Seifert’ & weighs 61 grams. It has an octagonal stick made from very good quality Ceylon pernambucco. It measures 745mm in length & has silver wire lapping. It has an ebony frog & is nickel-silver mounted with a mother of pearl Parisian eye. This bow has an inlaid slide & a button in three parts with two parts silver & one-part ebony.

This violin bow has a strong, well-balanced stick with an excellent level of control that facilitates more complex strokes such as spiccato, ricochet & sautillé. The excellent quality pernambucco used for this bow gives a beautifully full & resonant sound with outstanding projection & brightness. This bow would be suitable for tertiary level study and the advanced to professional level musician.
