Hagen Weise Cello #360 Goffriller 2021 Bubenreuth Germany

This cello was made by master luthier Hagen Weise in 2020. Weise has been active since 1991 when he commenced work for the Roderisch Paesold Company in Bubenreuth, Germany. In 2001 Hagen Weise and Klaus Clement formed their own workshop and together managed the Clement & Weise workshop for nine years. In 2004 Weise successfully completed his master violin-making examination. Since 2010 Weise has been dedicated to making fine instruments in his own workshop located in Baiersdorf, Germany. 

This cello is based on a Goffriller model. The back is made from cherry. The top is also made of one piece spruce with a straight grain. This cello has been antiqued with a good cover of dark to golden brown varnish and ebony fittings. 

Overall this cello has a big, powerful and pronounced sound with soloistic qualities. It has a singing quality and an even sound across both the high & low registers. It is extremely responsive and easy to play. This instrument would be suitable for tertiary level study, advancing to professional soloists and chamber musicians. This cello is currently fitted with a full set of Larsen Il Cannone Direct & Focused strings. The use of this set of strings brightens the overall warmth of this cello and enhances its brilliance.
