Klaus Clement C8 Strad Model Cello
This cello was made by master luthier Klaus Clement. Clement was born in 1956 in Weissenburg, Germany. His love of violin-making developed in the workshop of Karl Hoefner/Paesold in Bubenreuth where he learned his craft. Since 2010 Clement has been devoted to crafting master instruments in his workshop located in Leipzig, Germany. This instrument comes with a certificate, declaration of materials & photos from the maker.
The C8 has a two-piece well-flamed maple back while the top is made from spruce. This instrument is based on a Stradivarius model & has ebony fittings. This cello has been antiqued with a good cover of golden to red-brown varnish. Klaus Clement is well-known in particular for his varnishing. The formula he uses is constantly changing & improving as he investigates the effect of the varnish on the sound of his instruments.
Overall this cello has a bright, well-rounded & powerful sound with excellent projection. It is very responsive with a well-balanced sound & wide dynamic range of colours & overtones. Physically the cello is quite easy to play as the shoulders are a little narrower than a Stradivari model. This instrument would be suitable for tertiary-level study, advancing to professional soloists & chamber musicians. This cello has been fitted with Larsen Magnacore strings which perfectly balance the brightness of this instrument with a touch of warmth & complexity while enhancing its natural brilliant sound.
