This violin was made by Giorgio Grisales in 2023 in Cremona. Giorgio Grisales graduated from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona in 1988. His professional training was completed when he graduated from the ‘Civic School of Violin Making’ in Milan for musical instrument restoration. At the XI International Violin Making Triennale Contest “A. Stradivari”, Grisales was awarded the silver medal in the double bass section. Grisales opened his own workshop in Cremona after over 30 years of experience. His instruments are always inspired by the great Italian masters of the past and are well-known, and appreciated, all over the world. This violin is labelled 'Giorgio Grisales fecit in / Cremonae Anno Domini 2023' and is based on a Guarneri del "Gesu" model. The body measures 356mm along the back, 166mm across the upper bouts and 209mm across the lower bouts. The back is two pieces of highly flamed maple with a regular curl. The ribs and scroll match the back. The top is straight grain of uneven growth. The violin has been finished with golden brown varnish and boxwood fittings. This violin has a warm, rich sound and is most suited for performing at a professional level or higher. It is characterised by smooth power and ease across all registers, and possesses a high level of playability, with an easy action and quick response.
