Klaus Clement V6 3/4 Violin Strad
Klaus Clement began learning the art of violin-making in the workshop of Karl Hoefner/Paesold in Bubenreuth, Germany. In 2010 Clement opened his own workshop in Leipzig, Germany. He is an active member in many organisations including the association of German Violin and Bow Makers. This instrument comes with a certificate, declaration of materials and photos from the maker.
This violin bears the label "Klaus Ludwig Clement fecit / Leipzig, anno 2024 / made in Germany / V6-1SY". The body measures 336mm along the back, 156mm across the upper bouts and 194mm across the lower bouts. It has a two-piece back of moderately flamed maple with medium curl, and with ribs and scroll selected to match. The top is of finely grained spruce which broadens towards the bouts. The varnish is an amber-brown on a gold ground, and the fittings are of ebony.
It has a smooth and rich core to it, and feels very even across all registers, though it enjoys a particularly rounded G and D string feeling. With a moderate string height, it currently manages to balance projection and ease of playing very well, which makes it perfect for young players looking for a good instrument to support them in their performance endeavours before they move to a 4/4 violin.
