Cremonese School Violin labelled Farotti c.2010
This violin was made by a maker in the Cremonese school around 2010, and is sold with a certificate of authenticity from Florian Leonhard.
It is labelled "Farotti Celeste / da San Germano di Casale / Fece in Milano nell' anno 1925". The body measures 358mm along the back, 171mm across the upper bouts and 212mm across the lower bouts. It has a two-piece back of well-flamed maple with a narrow curl, with matching ribs and scroll. The top is a spruce, and the violin is finished with dark rosewood fittings, an ebony chinrest, and a amber-gold varnish.
It has a very honest and forthright tone, with clean projection and lots of brightness. Handling well in all registers, it has a generally easy playability and is quite comfortable in the hands. Its character shines most in the upper register, and would be a good fit for a player at a tertiary level or higher, especially in solo or orchestral environments.
